Welcome
Welcome to The Thorndyke ! A beautifully crafted Queen
Anne Revival style home situated in the heart of the Grand
Bank harbor. This location allows unmatched views of the ocean
and lovely historic Grand Bank. The Thorndyke was built in
1917 by Captain John Thornhill, one of Grand Bank’s most famous
and notorious fishing icons. It’s features are numerous, including
a widows walk, stained glass windows in the front porch, gorgeous
hardwood floors, one of a kind architectural details, and
more. Owners Colleen and Glynn are eager and proud to welcome
you to this award winning heritage beauty that they are lucky
enough to call home.
The
Thorndyke was recognized as a Registered Heritage Structure
in 1988. The building also won a Southcott Award for excellence
in heritage restoration.
